AC/DC are the rock band with the best songs to drink to, according to this study

Can't argue with science.

Most of us can agree that sinking some tins while listening to AC/DC’s ‘Thunderstruck’ is a pretty universal experience - and now, a study has crowned AC/DC as the top rock band for drinking songs. 

The whiskey retailer Flask & Barrel conducted a study where they analysed thousands of Spotify playlists that referenced partying or drinking in their titles. They ended up finding about 23,400 eligible playlists, and then separated each song into different genres of music.

In a top 10 list, AC/DC had four of their songs appear. 

‘Thunderstruck’ came in as the number one rock drinking song, appearing on 521 party/ drinking playlists, with ‘Highway to Hell’ coming in second place, appearing on 477 of them.

The band’s 1980 tune ‘Back in Black’ came in fourth place with 447 playlist appearances, and ‘You Shook Me All Night Long’ came in eighth, appearing on 393 playlists.

In amongst the top ten list were songs from Lynyrd Skynyrd, Eagles, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Fleetwood Mac and more. Check out the top 10 list below:

While AC/DC took out the top spot in the rock genre for the best songs to drink to, hip-hop was unveiled as the most popular genre to appear in party playlists.

As for the number one drinking song overall? Based off this study, Usher’s ‘Yeah!’ came in at number one, with 1,191 appearances.
